Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
June 11, 2015
|
Please join us this Sunday for worship at 8:30 or 10:30 am. Children's Chapel is suspended during the summer months, but children are invited to join their leaders during the first half of the 10:30 am service for structured and fun activities.
Sabbath reminds us to slow down and pay attention. Think of this week's spiritual practice as finding God in nature. Use this week's quote to think about the way Sabbath practices leave us markers to find our way back to God. Consider listening to the meditative music during your walk. Place a copy of the Sabbath prayer in your pocket and read it when you stop to observe nature. List places you would like to walk on your calendar. You can still sign up for a weekly email by clicking here.
The Education for Ministry program is recruiting new members for its fall session. EFM is a four-year program, meeting weekly and covering the Old Testament, New Testament, church history and theology. EFM provides you with the foundations and message of our Christian faith. After 11 years of EFM at Saint Patrick's, many parishioners are graduates. Most of your questions regarding EFM are explained in detail by following this link. If you have further questions or require clarification, please contact Rick Krumel for more details and registration by June 30th.
At this past Sunday's Vestry Forum we had Cheryl Pletcher speak to us surrounding a wonderful ministry walking distance from Saint Patrick's. Serenity House is an end-of-life home ministry of the Carolina Comfort Coalition that bridges the gap for Hospice families. As Cheryl stated in her presentation, there are many organizations that focus on the start of life and yet few that center on the "finish-line" of one's life. The goal of Serenity House is to provide a home environment and family style assistance for those without sufficient family support at the end stages of their life. Serenity House volunteers serve as the surrogate family, providing loving attention, bedside care and meal preparation. Since volunteers are the backbone of the organization, Serenity House relies on the support of over 120 caring individuals each week to provide quality end-of-life care to the residents.
So how can Saint Patrick's help God's people right here in our community at Serenity House?
- Provide bedside care
- Share with the residents
- Provide support to the resident families
- Assist in the office
- Help donate items on the Serenity House wish list
- Financial Donation
- And more
Saint Patrick's parishioner Paula Schmidt is currently working at this ministry and will be leading this ministry at Saint Patrick's.
