Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
April 30, 2015
|
Please join us this Sunday as we celebrate the 24th anniversary of Saint Patrick's. We will mark the occasion with an outdoor liturgy held at 10:30 a.m. Please note there is only one service on Sunday. The Shamrocks will be performing during the liturgy as well. There will be no children's chapel this week, however the youth will meet for classes following the picnic.
Our annual parish picnic will be held immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service. Parish Life will supply BBQ and a deli tray and will also provide paper products, tea, lemonade and water. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. There will be a small section of seating available for those who forget or need more stable seating. Wear comfortable clothing to church on Sunday and plan to join in the fun, food and fellowship!
The sermon from April 26th speaks about Sabbath. You are invited to deepen your own experience of spiritual rest while our rector is on sabbatical. The goal is to help re-pattern the rhythm of our lives from one of driven/escape to ministry/Sabbath. Choosing a Sabbath day and keeping it holy, set apart, allows us time to reconnect with God, ourselves, our loved ones, and creation. The weekly inspirational
quote will sometimes be scriptural and sometimes from a secular source. The spiritual practice for you will include suggestions for children. There is also an on-going link to a piece of meditation music from our music director and a reminder calendar to help guide our chosen Sabbath day. Additionally, you can sign up for additional spiritual guidance through email. You will receive a special email address where you can ask questions of our associate rector and share stories of your weekly experience. If you choose to sign up, you will receive a once weekly email to provide spiritual guidance based on our community Sabbath keeping experience. You may sign up at any time during the 15 weeks by clicking here. Click here to access the Sabbath Prayer which can be used to begin your Sabbath time.
The May meeting of the ECW will be held this Monday, May 4th beginning at 10:00 am in the library. If you have questions, or need transportation, please contact Ann Farr (704) 360-2216, or email her by clicking here.
Jim Hurst is returning to Saint Patrick's as part of our Solas Leighis Concert Series on Sunday, May 17th at 7:00 pm. Jim combines savvy guitar picking, broad vocal range and a musical eclecticism that culminates in jaw-dropping performances. The event includes a wine and cheese reception, so if you are planning to attend, please bring a finger food to share. Tickets at the door: $15 adults and $10 students/seniors. For more details, click here.
Saint Patrick's Youth Pilgrims are selling Auto Bell Car wash coupons to benefit the Summer 2015 Pilgrimage. Cost of each ticket good for an interior and exterior cleaning is $16.00 (the same as you pay at the carwash) of which we get to keep $7.99. We will offer the tickets for the month of April and early May. Please support this effort and get a clean car to boot!
Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, May 12th from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we still have many slots to fill. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking
