  Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
February 12, 2015

Please join for worship this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Children's Chapel takes place during the first half of the 10:30 a.m. service. Lectionary Bible Study meets in the Youth Room at 9:30 a.m.

If you were not present at Saint Patrick's on February 1st, you missed a very important message by the leaders of our parish, including our Rector. We have made an audio recording of the message available to you by clicking
here. Mark Forbes leads into the message with a brief homily. We highly recommend you take the time to hear this important message.

Acolytes are needed to assist with worship on Sunday mornings. Click here to sign up.

Last week you heard that our budget deficit for this year, after ministry cutbacks was over $61,000. Thank to additional pledges of $19,380 since then, that gap is reduced but still substantial at $41,950. If you have not yet pledged or increased your original pledge, please prayerfully consider doing so. If all our households, including those who have not yet pledged, could pledge an average $20 more per month, that contribution could more than make up the deficiency. We are all in this together, everybody's contribution counts and we need everyone's help!

Rector's Sabbatical Postponed: Due to budgetary constraints and the potentiality for significant personnel reductions, Mark Forbes has decided to postpone his sabbatical which was previously scheduled to begin the Monday after Easter. In time as the budgetary situation improves, Mark will consult with the Vestry to reestablish a new timeframe for sabbatical. Just as was the case this past year, the congregation will be informed well in advance.

Sally Brower Away: Please be reminded that Sally Brower serves Saint Patrick's as a quarter time priest and thus is granted significant flexibility for time off. With this in mind, please be aware that Sally will be away the next several weeks taking personal time for the rejuvenation of body, mind and spirit. This time away was previously scheduled in anticipation of Mark's sabbatical.

Adult Lenten Study: Embracing An Alternative Orthodoxy. Especially with a new pope who takes his name after Saint Francis of Assisi, there is a renewed interest in Franciscan spirituality. Based on video teachings by acclaimed author Fr. Richard Rohr, and with discussion facilitated by our Rector, we will explore what makes Franciscan spirituality so unique and special. Participants should be prepared to have some traditional religious ideas stretched, and may find such stretching unsettling. With this said, however, Lent is the perfect time for stretching our religious imaginations and thereby receiving the resulting growth that accompanies such endeavors. The offering will begin on Sunday, March 1st and continue meeting weekly for a total of four classes, the last class being held on March 22nd. Participants need not attend each class; however, the more one attends, the fuller the learning experience. Each gathering will begin following the 10:30 a.m. service (approximately 11:45 am) and will last one hour. No registration needed.

The Annual Meeting of the Parish will be held on Sunday, February 22nd, immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service. (Please note the new date which was necessary to ensure that Finance Committee speakers giving the keynote presentation could be present). During the meeting, we will elect three persons to serve on the Vestry. Three persons have submitted their names for nomination. Jeff Haas is running for the position of Vestry Leader for Financial Stewardship. John Syme is running for the position of Vestry Leader for Worship Support.  Jan Krumel is running for the position of Vestry Leader for Parish Life. Click on the candidate's name to read their bio. The deadline for submitting additional nominations has passed and no further nominations will be accepted.

Saint Patrick's Youth will sponsor the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 17th from 6 to 7:30 pm. A donation of your choice will be accepted with proceeds benefiting the Youth Scholarship Fund. Click here  for a flyer with the details.

Ash Wednesday services: The Imposition of Ashes and Celebration of Holy Eucharist will take place on Wednesday, February 18th with two services offered at 9:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The Youth will hold a Yard Sale on Saturday, March 14th. Please save items you no longer need and consider donating to the sale. Proceeds from the Yard Sale will be used to help defray the cost of the pilgrimage in June. Contact Mark Fowler to arrange for donations.

We are pleased to announce the 2015 Solas Leigh's concert series. In addition to some familiar artists, we'll be welcoming some exciting new events such as the 13th annual Harp Guitar Gathering in October. So invite your friends and make plans to attend. For the schedule and more details on the artists, visit our website by clicking

Our next evening to serve at Room in the Inn this evening. We have filled all the slots with the exception of one Night Host. And thanks to a local girl scout troop we have filled all of the slots for February 19th, with the exception of a Night Host and morning clean up person. You can sign up to help on the 19th by clicking here

Altar greenery is needed for four Sundays in Lent (March 1, 8, 15 and 22). If you would like to donate an arrangement in memory or honor of a loved one, or to celebrate a special date, please sign up via our website or click here

Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, March 10th from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we still have many slots to fill.
