  Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
December 11, 2014

Please join for worship this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Children's Chapel for children in preschool through grade 5 will take place during the first half of the 10:30 service. A reminder that a lectionary bible study for adults is offered every Sunday between services at 9:30 am.

In order to fully fund the needs of our church in the coming year, together we need a pledge total of $410,000. To date just 42% of the pledge cards mailed have been received back with pledges meeting 72.5% of our goal. Many thanks to those who have pledged. If you have not already done so, please prayerfully consider making the commitment and returning your card. Pledge cards are still available in the Narthex or from the Finance Office. You can also pledge by phone or email by contacting Julie Lynch. A detailed Stewardship Pledge Campaign update is available by clicking here.

Acolytes are needed to assist with worship on Sunday mornings. Click here to sign up.

Recently all families in the parish received a letter requesting your prayerful participation in the Diocesan Harvest for Hospitality campaign. As a suggested amount, each family of the diocese is being asked to consider donating $50 to support the diocese's outreach ministry that serves migrant farmworkers in our state. More information is available by clicking here.

We have been blessed with Dr. Karen Oldham presenting on mindfulness and meditation at Saint Patrick's during an Adult Forum. Now we have the chance for Karen to teach a 4 week class (8 total hours). For anyone interested in beginning a practice, this is a fantastic opportunity. Please click here for a brochure with more details. Exact times will be determined by the availability of those who express interest. The cost for an 8-hour class is $180 a person, which includes the Beginner's Mindfulness Companion Guidebook. To put your name on the list of those interested, please click here

At Saint Patrick's, our tradition at Christmas is to decorate our worship space with beautiful poinsettias, trees and wreaths as we prepare to celebrate the Incarnation. Our ability to do this every year is only made possible by donations we receive to our Flower Fund. You can donate in loving memory or thanksgiving of loved ones. All donors will be listed in the Christmas Eve bulletins, along with the person(s) being remembered/honored. Suggested donation is $15 with $5 for each additional name. Deadline for ordering is next Wednesday, December 17. You can mail your order into the office, or just drop it in the plate on Sunday morning. Forms are also available in the Narthex. Click here  for an order form.

Please note that in the left column of the Weekly Reminders there is a red link. This link is a complete report of the 199th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina that took place in November. You are encouraged to read the report.

Our Angel Tree is off to a great start as 46 of the 84 children have been accounted for. Please stop by at the end of the service if you would like to sponsor a child for Christmas.

In other Outreach news, Saint Patrick's will host seven nights at Room in the Inn beginning on December 18th. The online sign up for Room in the Inn has begun. You can read all the details and sign up by clicking here.

In lieu of a regular monthly meeting, the ECW will gather for their annual Holiday Luncheon on Monday, December 15th at 11:30 a.m. at the home of Judy Willingham. All women of the church are welcome to attend. If you are coming, please bring a salad or dessert to share. Judy lives at 117 Glen Oak Court in Mooresville. If you have questions or transportation issues, please call Judy (704) 799-9734.

The Annual Youth Christmas party will be held on Friday evening, December 19th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Saint Patrick's. Dinner will be served. Please bring a wrapped gift (no candy please) valued at no more than $5 for our Wacky Gift Exchange.

In other Youth news, a Yard Sale will be held in March of 2015. Please save items that you no longer need. Proceeds from the Yard Sale will help defray the cost of the 2015 Pilgrimage. Lastly, a reminder that Youth Meetings will move to after church beginning on January 4th. We will still meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month. The meetings will end by 2 pm.

As 2014 draws to a close, our Finance Office reminds you to please pay the remaining balance on your 2014 pledge by December 31. If you send your pledge by mail, please do make sure it is postmarked by the 31st. If you need to know the remaining balance of your pledge, please contact Julie Lynch (704) 663-5659 ext. 203. Thank you for your generous gifts to our church!

If you would like to dedicate flowers in memory or honor of a loved one, or to celebrate a special date, please sign up using the link on our website by clicking

Perhaps you have noticed that some people have name tags with green ink. If so, that person is new to Saint Patrick's and we hope that you will introduce yourself and make the person feel welcomed. Saint Patrick's has a reputation of being a very welcoming church and we want to embrace our new members and invite them to join in the many activities that Saint Patrick's offers. Please help our new folks in making these connections.

Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, January 13 from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we still have many slots to fill. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking here
