  Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
October 16, 2014

Please join for worship this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Children's Chapel for children in preschool through grade 5 will take place during the first half of the 10:30 service. A reminder that a lectionary bible study for adults is offered every Sunday between services.

Please join us this Sunday, October 19th following the 10:30 a.m. service for a Rector's Forum. Our guest speaker will be Diocesan Canon Cathie Caimano. You will be receiving a letter from the Wardens either today or tomorrow announcing plans for a sabbatical for our Rector Mark Forbes. Canon Caimano will guide us through the process and answer your questions. Click here.to read the Wardens letter. Please grab a cup of coffee and join us in the Sanctuary at 11:45 am.

There will be a Youth Meeting this Sunday, October 19th at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is open to all youth in grades 6th through 12th and their friends. Dinner is provided.

Our lawn at Saint Patrick's was aerated and over seeded two weeks ago. It will be best if we limit foot traffic for another week or two so that the new grass has time to germinate and become established. This is important for the long-term health and beauty of the lawn. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this important enhancement of our surroundings.

We are in need of acolytes to serve at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. If you are already an acolyte at Saint Patrick's you received an email communication about this new procedure. You can click here  to begin to sign up for a Sunday. If you are not currently an acolyte but would like to become one, please contact Bob Milllikin.

Our Music Director, Jayne Sprinkle, has started the "Shamrocks." If you have not been in town, please join us anytime. Children from kindergarten to fifth grade are welcome to participate. Practices are held on Sunday mornings immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service for 20-30 minutes in the youth room/Children's Chapel room.

The Saint Patrick's Youth Group will assist our congregation in hosting a safe, fun and slightly spooky "Trunk or Treat" for the children of our community on Thursday, October 30th from 6 pm to 7 pm at the church. There will be hot dogs, drinks, games and lots of treats so bring your friends and neighbors! Please click here for a flyer with all the details.

A new sign up genius for Children's Chapel and Nursery volunteers for the fall has been created on the church website. Please consider volunteering your time to Saint Patrick's Children's Formation. We need as many volunteers as we can get to share in this important ministry for our children. Click here to access our website.

Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, November 11th from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we still have many slots to fill. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking here

Sunita Staneslow will perform at Saint Patrick's on Sunday, October 26, at 7:00 pm.  Sunita is an internationally recognized harpist educated in the US and currently living in Tel Aviv.  Make plans to enjoy an intimate concert that spans the spectrum of human emotions from soulful Jewish melodies to lively Scottish reels to music composed by contemporary harpists, all woven together with stories of her travels and adventures.  A wine and cheese reception is included during intermission.  If you are planning to attend, please bring a finger food for the reception.  Tickets available at the door: $15 for adults, $10 seniors/students.  All proceeds benefit community outreach.  For more details, click here or call (704) 663-5659.

Saint Patrick's Weekend at Kanuga is November 7-9. In the adult program we will be exploring Franciscan theology with discussion facilitated by Rev. Mark Forbes and based on video teaching by popular writer and speaker Fr. Richard Rohr. Our Youth will be having their own program, but will be at Kanuga with us. Kanuga is an Episcopal Conference Center, located outside Hendersonville in the mountains of Western North Carolina. The weekend includes two nights of lodging, six meals, the program, and access to the 1,400 acres of Kanuga. Visit their website for more info. Registration forms are located in the hallway near the church office and need to be turned into the office, or given to David Bramigk by October 20. Contact number for David (704) 528-4749, or 704-880-4331. You can also email him by clicking here
