  Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
October 2, 2014

Please join us as we observe the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, this Sunday, October 5th at the 10:30 a.m. service. You are invited to bring your pet (or a stuffed stand-in) to receive a blessing as part of the liturgy that day. The 8:30 a.m. service will be held indoors as usual and will be pet-free. The 10:30 a.m. service will take place in the rear parking lot. Dogs are to be kept on a leash, while cats or smaller animals should be confined to carriers. Remember to bring lawn chairs to sit on. A small seating area will be provided for anyone who forgets, or requires more stable seating.

Our lawn at Saint Patrick's was aerated and over seeded last week. It will be best if we limit foot traffic for a period of two to three weeks so that the new grass has time to germinate and become established. This is important for the long-term health and beauty of the lawn. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this important enhancement of our surroundings.

Treat yourself to a vibrant Spiritual Refresher this Saturday, October 4th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Lunch is included. Your four-hour Spiritual Refresher will include teaching and conversation with your rector and assisting rector on relevant spiritual topics and reflection times with guiding questions. The topic for this session is "The Use of Sacred Gesture." If you would like to attend, please use this link to sign up.

We are in need of acolytes to serve at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.. If you are already an acolyte at Saint Patrick's you received an email communication about this new procedure. You can click here to begin to sign up for a Sunday. If you are not currently an acolyte but would like to become one, please contact Bob Milllikin.

The next four week Yoga session begins Tuesday October 7th in the sanctuary. If you have been wanting to see if yoga is for you, you may attend your first class for free. Class meets at 10:00 AM. Bring a yoga mat, small towel, and fee of $32 if you are coming for the four weeks. Please sign up if you plan to come by clicking here

Our Music Director, Jayne Sprinkle, will be starting up the "Shamrocks" children's choir again on October 12th. Children from kindergarten to fifth grade are welcome to participate. Practice will be on Sunday mornings immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service for 20-30 minutes in the youth room/Children's Chapel room. The children can sing with their friends while their parents can enjoy fellowship in the Narthex during coffee hour.

The Saint Patrick's Youth Group will assist our congregation in hosting a safe, fun and slightly spooky "Trunk or Treat" for the children of our community on Thursday, October 30th from 6 pm to 7 pm at the church. There will be hot dogs, drinks, games and lots of treats so bring your friends and neighbors to enjoy this fun event!

A new sign up genius for Children's Chapel and Nursery volunteers for the fall has been created on the church website. Please consider volunteering your time to Saint Patrick's Children's Formation. We need as many volunteers as we can get to share in this important ministry for our children. Click here to access our website.

Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, October 14th from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we still have many slots to fill. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking here

Take a weekend in early November and travel to the mountains in Western North Carolina for time with our Rector and other St Pat's family members.  Yes,  Mark Forbes will be providing a program for the weekend in addition to our time together to enjoy some fun, food and fellowship.  Save on your calendar November 7-9.  More information coming, but contact David Bramigk at 704-880-4331 with questions.

Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Charlotte will host a timely conversation on Domestic Violence on Tuesday, October 14 from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. Sponsored by Saint Peter's Women's Ministry, this event is open to both men and women. Click here for a flyer with all the details.

Saint James' Episcopal Church on Shinnville Road in Mooresville will hold a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, October 18th from 4 pm to 7 pm. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children. The proceeds will be split between Shepherd School and the Brody Thompson Foundation. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
