  Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
September 18, 2014

Please join us for worship this Sunday for worship at 8:30  a.m. and 10:30 a.m. This Sunday the 10:30 service will be an abbreviated Eucharist that will be immediately followed by our breaking out into various fitness groups (read more below). Please note there will be no Children's Chapel Sunday so that all may enjoy the day's activities. Please come!

Adult Bible Study to be offered on Sunday Mornings. The Bible passages we read each Sunday, found in the Lectionary, are used not only by the Episcopal Church and Anglican Communion, but by many major Christian denominations worldwide. Imagine the power and prayer generated by millions of Christians reflecting on the same passages throughout the week.  Join us weekly in the EFM/Youth Room from 9:30 am-10:15 am.  Each week is a self-contained discussion, so drop in and out of the weekly offering as your schedule and heart suggests.  If desired, the Lectionary readings can be viewed in advance on numerous websites, including lectionarypage.org.  Weekly conversations will be facilitated by seminary trained laity and/or clergy.  Come join us for the "The Fellowship of the Word."

There will be a Youth Meeting this Sunday, September 21st from 5:30 until 7:30 pm. The meeting is open to all youth in grades 6th through 12th and their friends. Dinner will be provided. The youth will also be offering activities for the Wellness Sunday this week to include skateboarding, lacrosse and volleyball. Please come!

You've been to church and been fed spiritually through prayer and Eucharist and you've been fed intellectually through the sermon and your own reflections. But then your body gets thirsty! You are invited to enjoy a cup of coffee or lemonade after the 10:30 a.m. service every Sunday.

Saint Patrick's has been invited to participate along with Saint Alban's in offering an Episcopal worship opportunity for the clients of the Mooresville Soup Kitchen. These will occur every Monday night during September from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Please contact Mark Forbes if you would be interested in attending.

As human beings, we are essentially comprised of body, mind and spirit.  These three aspects of our humanity are interwoven and mutually support one another.  Thus, as persons concerned about our spiritual journey into wholeness, we must be necessarily concerned with nurturing all three aspects of our being.  To this end, and considering our worship and spiritual formation opportunities already nurture mind and spirit, we will be offering a Wellness Eucharist at the 10:30 am service this Sunday, September 21st.  Following an abbreviated Eucharistic liturgy, the community will be invited to participate together in numerous fitness activities.  Activities will be offered for all ages and abilities.  Walking groups, jogging groups, biking groups, gentle yoga, 'Silver Sneakers' seated exercise and various outdoor games will be offered.  For all the details about the fitness opportunities please click here

Did you know that every day someone at Saint Patrick's prays for you by name? This happens through the Prayer Partner Ministry of the Daughters of the King. Each volunteer prays for approximately six families, mentioning each man, woman, and child in the family by name. There is no fixed time or specific prayer, just raise them up into the light of Christ each day in your own words and at your convenience. As an added blessing, our Rector Mark Forbes will be praying for you. Please search your heart to make a commitment to be a Pray-er for one year. On Sunday, September 21 we will have a sign up sheet at church. Shortly after sign ups, you will receive your list of families. If you have questions, or wish to sign up early, please contact Pam Ferdinands, or (704) 230-4788, Hazel McCrone, or (704) 662-9084, or Judy Simmons, or (704) 528-9878.

Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, October 14th from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we still have many slots to fill. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking here

Last Sunday during the Vestry forum, a question was raised about how much profit the ECW made from the Parade of Tables. In 2009, ECW raised $1,976.45, $1,641.15 was raised in 2010, $1,971.73 in 2011 and $2,240.29 in 2012. The Parade of Tables was not held in 2013, nor will it be held in 2014 due to not being able to find an appropriate date. Funds raised by ECW are used to support Solace for the Children, Jessie Banks' local outreach program, the Rector's discretionary fund, and other miscellaneous requests for financial support. If you have any questions about ECW finances, please contact Judy Willingham (7040 799-9734.

Take a weekend in early November and travel to the mountains in Western North Carolina for time with our Rector and other St Pat's family members.  Yes,  Mark Forbes will be providing a program for the weekend in addition to our time together to enjoy some fun, food and fellowship.  Save on your calendar November 7-9.  More information coming, but contact David Bramigk at 704-880-4331 with questions.

Saint James' Episcopal Church on Shinnville Road in Mooresville will hold a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, October 18th from 4 pm to 7 pm. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children. The proceeds will be split between Shepherd School and the Brody Thompson Foundation. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
