Rector's Forum - this Sunday, March 30. In a changing World should the Episcopal Church change? Come and join us immediately following the 10:30 a.m. Eucharist this Sunday to discuss the future of the church. There is declining participation in all denominations of the Christian church, including the Episcopal Church. However, there seems to be a growing global emergence of many people seeking "Spirituality without Religion." Are there ways for Saint Patrick's to survive or even thrive in such a changing environment? Please join us for just 45 minutes to discuss this vitally important topic.
This Sunday March 30th the Youth and interested parents will attend a screening of the movie "Jerusalem" at the IMAX theater at Discovery Place. Stop Hunger Now:April 6th is "Be the Sermon" Sunday! The 8:30 am service will be a full Eucharist including a spoken sermon. The 10:30 am service will be a full Eucharist minus a spoken sermon. Following the conclusion of the 10:30 am service, and after a 15 minute break, the 'sermon' will be preached by congregants wishing to participate. In the spirit of St. Francis, we will preach together not with words, but with our actions. The sanctuary will be converted into an assembly line where we will package 10,000 high protein, highly nutritious meals. These meals will be used for those in need in developing countries around the world. There are seated opportunities to participate for those who find standing difficult. All ages are welcome, including young children. This project should take just a little over an hour and a half. Imagine--in just over 90 minutes we will provide 10,000 impoverished children with a nutritious meal--very likely the only one they will get that day. The meal packaging is a great intergenerational outreach event for a great cause. Mark Hatley will serve as the project leader for this event. Please do join us!
