  Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
February 6, 2014

Please join us for worship this Sunday at 8:30 or 10:30 a.m. Children's Chapel for preschool age children through grade 5, takes place during the first half of the 10:30 a.m. service.

Last Sunday was the first Sunday of the month where we usually pray over those folks who are celebrating birthdays or anniversaries during the month. We apologize for the oversight in missing that last week. Please note that we will observe birthdays and anniversaries for the month of February this Sunday.

2013 ANNUAL REPORT OF THE PARISH

The Annual Meeting of the Parish will be held this Sunday, February 9th immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service.

CHILDCARE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THE ANNUAL MEETING
As part of the Annual Meeting, we will elect three persons to fill open terms on the 2014 Vestry. The open Vestry Leader positions are for Building and Grounds, Communications and Outreach. Three candidates have come forward to have their names placed in nomination. They are Mark Stehle  for Building and Grounds, Laurence Smith for Communications, and Pete Sale for Outreach. Click on a candidate name to read their bio. If you have an interest in running, please click here to access the LEAD document for details on job descriptions and general Vestry responsibilities and expectations. Notify Peter May or Jan Krumel if you are interested in running.

Exciting news will be shared at the Annual Meeting! In addition to our traditional 'appreciation calisthenics' and vestry elections, we will have a special presentation on the developing vision for an enhancement of our building's interior and exterior design, building expansion, as well as an update on the Cram construction project.

There will be a youth meeting this Sunday, February 9th from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm. A Eucharist will follow the youth meeting. All are invited to attend the Eucharist.

A Lenten Study Opportunity:  "Jesus Was An Episcopalian"

Might you be interested in a weekly group study to help you grow your faith in the season of Lent?  If so, please consider joining a group of committed spiritual journeyers who will be meeting weekly in parishioner homes to share a meal, fellowship and book study.  Beginning March 14, the group will meet on Friday nights at 6:30pm for five consecutive weeks.  Gatherings will last roughly two hours.  The group will be reading and discussing the book entitled "Jesus Was an Episcopalian."  It is an easy to read yet thoroughly thought provoking survey of the Episcopal faith.  If you would like to participate, please click here, or sign up via the sign up sheet in the Narthex on Sunday morning.

Due to the large interest expressed in the Centering Prayer workshop in Concord on March 1st, we will offer a caravan/carpool from the church. For those who wish to carpool/caravan, please plan to meet at the church at 9:00 a.m. that day. We will depart sharply at 9:10 am. Please contact Beryl in the church office if you plan to carpool with us so that we can be sure we do not leave anyone behind. Thank you.

Did you know that hearing assistance devices are available for those who need them? If you would like to borrow one of these discreet devices to use during worship, please speak with an usher.

Make plans to join us as we kick off the 2014 Solas Leighis concert series on Sunday, February 23, at 7:00 pm with a performance by Jim Hurst.  Jim's savvy guitar picking, broad vocal range and musical eclecticism combine for jaw-dropping performances.  His styles range from an old time fiddle tune, to a funky groove, to a beautiful ballad.  Impeccable and creative -- one voice, one guitar, one great performance!  For more details, visit our web site by clicking here

Please remember that we are scheduled to serve at Room in the Inn this evening. We have most slots filled thanks to our local girl scout troop but we still need one person to help set up, a person to help serve, and also a night host. Please sign up online as soon as possible so that we may get all the slots filled promptly. Sign up by clicking here

Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, February 11th from 1 to 4 pm. Currently we have many slots we need to fill. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking here

Altar flowers are needed for the month of February.  If you would like to donate altar flowers in memory or honor of someone or a special date, click here. The flowers may be from your garden, or a potted plant, or from a local florist.  Any questions, contact Sherry Klepfer at 704-664-6515, or email her by clicking here
