Advent Series 2013 will begin on Sunday, November 24th. In a change from previous years, the series will be held on Sundays following the 10:30 a.m. service. Here is a brief description of the program. The Christmas stories are about light in our darkness, the fulfillment of our deepest yearnings, and the birth of Christ within us. They are about us - our hopes and fears. And they are about a different kind of world. God's dream for us is not simply peace of mind, but peace on earth." -- "The First Christmas," On Sunday afternoon during Advent, immediately following the 10:30 am Eucharist and lasting until 1:30 pm, we will read selected passages from "The First Christmas" by Marcus J. Borg & John Dominic Crossan, listen to Christmas carols and songs, share our insights and understandings, and learn from each other. The study will be led by Jean Niedert of St. John's Episcopal Church, Charlotte. Click here to sign up online. For a detailed flyer on the program please click here. Lunch will be provided.

Meditation for Beginners. Meditation centers the soul, calms the mind, reduces stress, and provides a myriad of other well documented health benefits. Additionally it is a deep and transformative type of prayer. Having practiced both Eastern and Western forms of meditation for almost two decades, our rector, Mark Forbes, will be offering a nine week class designed to gently introduce a meditation practice into your life. Thirty minute class sessions held weekly will be complimented with daily suggestions for growing the practice. Space will be limited. Class meeting times will be determined by participants' schedules. If you have an interest in taking the class, please contact Mark in the church office before December 4th.
An Exploratory Committee for Latino/Hispanic Ministry.

At present, we are forming a committee to assess the need and explore potential avenues for sharing God's love with this currently underserved demographic of God's family. If you feel called to assist with this exploratory project, please inform Mark Forbes or the church office
