Rector's Forum: A Priest, A Rabbi and A Buddhist Sit Down.
This Sunday immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service!! We know what happens when a priest, a rabbi and a buddhist walk into a bar....but what about when they sit down to talk? Please consider joining our Rector, Mark Forbes, in viewing and discussing the recent UNC-TV special entitled ""Sacred Space: The Promise of Peace and Understanding in Our World." Moderated by Laura Logan of 60 Minutes, our very own Bishop Michael Curry joins a distinguished panel of Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Catholic and Humanist leaders to talk about what our faiths share and how they differ - and what we can learn from each other. Run with permission from UNC-TV, the video program lasts 56 minutes. Following the viewing, and for those who wish to stay, Mark will facilitate a discussion on inter-faith understanding. The forum will be held this Sunday, October 27th following the 10:30 am service with the optional discussion session ending by 1:30 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. Please click here to let the church office know if you plan to attend so we can be sure to have enough refreshments. Thank you!
Saint Patrick's Annual Truck or Treat celebration will be held this Sunday, October 27th from 5 to 7 pm. Games, candy, hot dogs, etc. We need adults to come and decorate the trunk of their cars and hand out candy to the children. There will be a prize for the Best Trunk. Please make sure all candy is peanut free! We are currently collecting donations of candy - please place in the basket in the Narthex labeled Trunk or Treat. We are also in need of a volunteer or two to cook hot dogs, and youth are always needed to help run the games. Please contact Mark Fowler if you are able to help.

Meditation for Beginners. Meditation centers the soul, calms the mind, reduces stress, and provides a myriad of other well documented health benefits. Having practiced both Eastern and Western forms of meditation for almost two decades, our rector, Mark Forbes, will be offering a nine week class designed to gently introduce a meditation practice into your life. Thirty minute class sessions held weekly will be complimented with daily suggestions for growing the practice. Space will be limited. Class meeting times will be determined by participants' schedules. If you have an interest in taking the class, please contact Mark in the church office before December 4th.
An Exploratory Committee for Latino/Hispanic Ministry. Working in conjunction with the Diocese of NC, Saint Patrick's is looking to explore the possibility of offering a Latino/Hispanic ministry in the Lake Norman area. At present, we are forming a committee to assess the need and explore potential avenues for sharing God's love with this currently underserved demographic of God's family. If you feel called to assist with this exploratory project, please inform Mark Forbes or the church office. Fellow Parishioners: In an effort to enhance the flow of our Liturgy a designated individual will make all parish announcements at the 10:30 am service. Parishioners with information to disseminate will need to complete a form available at the church website by 5 pm on the Wednesday prior to the intended Sunday. The form must be completed and returned to Beryl in the church office and is subject to edit for length or questionable content and grammar. This change has been ratified by your vestry and will begin Sunday, November 3rd. Peace, John Gazak, Communications Vestry Leader Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, November 12th from 1 to 4 pm. As we move deeper into the fall and temperatures begin to drop, we quickly realize that winter is just around the corner, and that means the return of our commitment to serve our homeless neighbors through the Room in the Inn program at Davidson United Methodist Church. their white New England family. Conversation will be facilitated by Constance and Dain Perry. Dain is a DeWolf descendant and film participant; both have roots in Charlotte, Fayetteville, and Lewisburg, North Carolina. Click here for a flyer containing all of the details.
