  Saint Patrick's Weekly Reminders
October 10, 2013

Please join us for worship this Sunday at 8:30 or 10:30 a.m. Christian Education for adults takes place in the Sanctuary from 9:30 to 10:15 am. You are encouraged to click "The Wired Word" link in the left column to preview this week's adult forum topic. Sunday School for children preschool through grade 5, takes place during the first half of the 10:30 am service.

At Saint Patrick's, we offer the Sacrament of Baptism two times a year - in the spring and fall. Our next Baptismal date will be Sunday, November 3rd (All Saints Sunday). If you desire to be baptized (adults or children), you must notify the Church office by Monday, October 14th.

We have begun offering a Preschool Chapel service on Wednesday mornings beginning at 11:40 a.m. and ending at Noon. Please note that while the service is geared to preschoolers, anyone who would like to attend is welcome.

The next meeting of the VIVA Seniors will be held this coming Tuesday, October 15th at 11 am. We will celebrate the arrival of the fall season with a Saint Patrick's Octoberfest, complete with traditional German food. Join us and participate in "special interest" stations designed with you in mind. Cost is $10. Sign up now to reserve your spot by clicking here We have planned something for everyone! Our last "tailgate" meeting was a great success so we hope to see you on the 15th! Click here for a flyer with all the details.

Our next scheduled day to serve as Prep Chefs at the Mooresville Soup Kitchen is on Tuesday, November 12th from 1 to 4 pm. We are in need of 6 to 10 volunteers, 16 years of age and older who can commit to helping to prepare the frozen meals for those in need. You can sign up to help by clicking here

Rector's Forum:  A Priest, A Rabbi and A Buddhist Sit Down.

We know what happens when a priest, a rabbi and a buddhist walk into a bar....but what about when they sit down to talk?  Please consider joining our Rector, Mark Forbes, in viewing and discussing the recent UNC-TV special entitled ""Sacred Space: The Promise of Peace and Understanding in Our World."  Moderated by Laura Logan of 60 Minutes, our very own Bishop Michael Curry joins a distinguished panel of Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Catholic and Humanist leaders to talk about what our faiths share and how they differ - and what we can learn from each other.  Run with permission from UNC-TV, the video program lasts 56 minutes.  Following the viewing, and for those who wish to stay, Mark will facilitate a discussion on inter-faith understanding.  The forum will be held on Sunday, October 27th following the 10:30 am service with the optional discussion session ending by 1:30 pm.  Light refreshments will be provided.  If possible, please let Beryl Frey in the church office know in advance by clicking here if you hope to attend.  This will help with planning.

Internationally acclaimed guitarist Richard Smith will perform at Saint Patrick's on Sunday, October 20, at 7:00 pm.  Tickets at the door: $15 adults, $10 seniors and students.  All proceeds benefit our outreach programs.  Wine and cheese reception included.  If you plan to attend, please consider bringing a finger food for the reception.  For more details visit our website by clicking here
