With all of the activity surrounding Bishop Gregg's visit last Sunday, we did not follow our custom of celebrating birthdays and anniversaries of our parishioners on the first Sunday of the month. Please note that we will do so this Sunday.

At a recent meeting, the Vestry decided to provide the congregation with Sunday Attendance Metrics on a quarterly basis. The average Sunday Attendance (ASA) for the first quarter of 2013 was 286, not including Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday attendance was 310. These ASA metrics include the numbers for 8:30 a.m. Rite II service, 10:30 a.m. Rite II service (with music), and also the Sunday evening Alternative Eucharists.
Please join our VIVA Seniors group for their second luncheon on the 16th of April here at Saint Patrick's. The guest speaker will be Mallie from Lowes, a master gardener who will share tips on successful spring planting. Be prepared for a " hands on" approach as we will all be potting our favorite herbs and flowers to take home. Please sign up in the Narthex following the 10:30 service to ensure that supplies will be available for all. There will be a $10 cost for supplies including pots, soil and planting materials. We will be serving lunch at 11:00 but feel free to come early for coffee and conversation.
In an effort to improve their level of transparency and communication, the Vestry has decided to offer a memo in the Weekly Reminders containing a new topic each week. The first was written by John Gazak. You can access John's article by clicking here. Going forward, the "Vestry Vibes" will be located in the Vestry Corner section of the Weekly Reminders (left column).

We are pleased to announce that Kristin Bacon has been hired as a permanent staff member of our nursery program. For the last few months she has been serving as a temporary hire. We are also pleased to announce that Kristen Forbes will be serving as the Interim Director of Children's Ministries until such time as the permanent position is filled. Mark Fowler continues to serve as the Interim Director of Youth Ministries, also until such time as a permanent hire is made. The vestry has commissioned the development of a search committee to find our future Directors for Youth and Children's Ministries. Mason Reuter will chair this committee. The hope is that the committee will present qualified candidates to the vestry by the end of the summer, and that these new hires will be in place come early Fall. Attention Parents of Rising 6th Graders! Rising 6th graders are eligible to begin to be part of Saint Patrick's Youth Group this fall. Please contact Mark Fowler by clicking here and provide him with your child's information. By now you surely have noticed the tear-drop plastic hangers that are outside near all the door handles. These are called "Bird-Be-Gone." Every spring we have a terrible time with robins landing on our door handles and pecking at the glass to come in. It has become a nuisance because they leave their "droppings" all over the handles, which makes for a great mess. We have tried the construction paper owls in the past and they worked with limited success. These "Bird-Be-Gone" objects are a little bit more attractive, and seem to have a higher degree of success than the owls (at least so far).
The 2013 Solas Leighis Concert Series has been planned. You can see the concert schedule by clicking here
Sign ups are underway for the youth spring beach trip to North Myrtle Beach, April 26th to 28th. Speak with Mark Fowler for more information.
