Have you noticed that as you go through the busy-ness of your day, occasionally you stop to notice a common theme or something catches your eye or your attention and you to pause to think,
"Wow, I keep seeing that word or that idea"? My favorite holiday movie of all time is "The Polar Express". Those who know me personally will not be surprised that I gave my son a bell each Christmas to symbolize the importance of "Believing".
Well, that same son, now 16,
has been watching over and over what is apparently his favorite holiday movie, "Elf".
The other day, I sat and watched
it with him for the first time
and it happened...
that recurring theme thing.
It's important to believe in something when others don't.
As I look back over not just the past year but the past few years,
I feel compelled to thank people who have helped us...who have "Believed in us." You are receiving this letter because you either contributed financially to our 2013 Aiken's Cookin' with Celebrity Chefs...our most successful year to date...or you gave a donation to our agency or one of its programs. Because of you, we continue to take steps towards increased stability and sustainability as a non-profit.
The year 2013 has been a year of financial uncertainty for many in our community as well as our country. A trend recently reported by Guidestar, Inc. reflects this uncertainty but also celebrates the philanthropic giving of many who continue to give; but, are more discerning in regards to the recipients of their donations.
Essentially, donors are taking a more personal approach to giving by thinking about which organizations they "believe in". Thank you for believing in
MHA Aiken County.
As we approach the end of 2013, please consider a year-end donation to sustain our programs. By contributing financially
to MHA Aiken County,
you are doing so much more
than giving a donation.
You are joining a group of "Believers".
For us, that's invaluable
and more appreciated
than we can ever express!
Gratefully,
Lisa A. Tindal. Executive Director
