On March 12, Gorilla Doctors worked with the Congolese Wildlife Authority to help rescue an infant gorilla orphaned by poachers in the DRC. Kalonge (named after the town where he was rescued) is slowly coming out of his shell with the comfort and reassurance of his caretakers and vigilant medical care of the Gorilla Doctors.

Dr. Jan Returns to DRC to Visit Rumangabo, Bukima
After two years away, Dr. Jan returned to DRC in March with biologist and TV host of "Biggest and Baddest" Niall McCann in tow. Read about her week in DRC performing visual health checks on the wild and orphan gorillas in Virunga National Park again and even dismantling snares in the forest!

Silverback Mwirima Passes Suddenly in Bwindi
Despite the emergency efforts of our Gorilla Doctors to provide veterinary care to Mwirima, the leader of Rushegura group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, he succumbed to severe septicaemia. Read about Drs. Fred and Jan's valiant effort to save the silverback's life.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to film a wildlife documentary? 52 Media, Inc. has been filming with Gorilla Doctors in Rwanda and DRC for several months and the documentary will air on the Canadian Broadcasting Company's "The Nature of Things" in fall 2014.
