Don't rely upon cheap, inexperienced technical support: "You get what you pay for"

The "Heartbleed bug" is a flaw in the encryption method that approximately half a million websites use to encrypt data including login credentials and passwords. The flaw which existed for more than 2 years was patched in April. Many of the affected websites have been updated as of late April, and if you haven't changed your passwords yet - now is the time to do so. Read more...

A security flaw in the widely popular Internet Explorer web browser led the Department of Homeland Security to issue an advisory that recommends that people not use the browser until it is fixed. Our advice is that you can still use Internet Explorer to go to mainstream and trustworthy websites, but don't use it to search the internet or click on potentially unsafe links in emails. Windows XP now more vulnerable to internet attacks - what you should do if you still have XP
On April 8 Microsoft ended support of Windows XP, the operating system that ran on the majority of personal computers for 13 years. Since Windows XP was released in 2001, Microsoft released and continues to support Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Now that Windows XP is no longer supported, that means that Microsoft will no longer release monthly critical security updates that patch the operating system to help prevent hackers from getting into the computer if connected to the internet.

Virus and malware authors have reportedly been working on infections that target vulnerabilities in Windows XP that will no longer be patched, including April's Internet Explorer flaw.

The average lifespan of computer hardware is about 5 years, so a computer with Windows XP is well past its lifespan. Now is the time to upgrade and get a new computer. Fortunately you won't have to pay as much for a new computer as your old one since prices have come down over the years.
