New twists in tech support scams that everyone must know NOW!
If you still have Windows XP it's time to get a new PC: Microsoft ending support next April

Scams

For years we've been warning people about tech support scams where someone claiming to be from Microsoft, your internet service provider or computer manufacturer calls to inform you that your computer is in danger and filled with trojan viruses or critical errors.

In a later twist, shady companies began advertising on Google, Yahoo, Bing and other websites targeting search terms such as "HP tech support number" in hopes that vulnerable computer users would call them. After calling the number the representative would say that in order to help with the problem they would need to remotely access your computer. Then just like the unsolicited calls from "Microsoft" above, you are led to believe that your computer is in danger and filled with trojan viruses or critical errors.

NewPC
If you still have a computer purchased prior to 2008 with the Windows XP operating system, after April 8th Microsoft will no longer be supporting it nor releasing critical security updates for the 13-year-old operating system. Windows XP will continue to work, however it will become increasingly more dangerous to operate if connected to the internet. Virus and malware authors have reportedly been working on infections that target vulnerabilities in Windows XP that will no longer be patched.

The average lifespan of computer hardware is about 5 years, so a computer with Windows XP is well past its lifespan. Now is the time to upgrade and get a new computer. Fortunately you won't have to pay as much for a new computer as your old one since prices have come down over the years.

Cheap

Cheap Unlicensed Computer Repair -

"You Get What You Pay For"

Do you have a friend or neighbor who works with computers in their spare time? Do they actively keep-up with the computer industry and fix computers on a daily basis like we do?

Computer Techs has been in business since 2003, and our technicians have over 20 years of computer experience.

Our calls for service have leveled off in the past few years due to an abundance of new inexperienced and unlicensed computer repair people. Similar to hiring an unlicensed contractor to work on your home, it may be cheaper to go with someone else in the short term. However, you can count on Computer Techs to get the job done quickly and correctly, and we'll be available the next time you need service. We are often called to finish repairing what someone else didn't fix correctly.
