UPDATE

Official Signs are Up!

The Main Street Board of Directors gathered before their Board Meeting to take a photo with one of the three new Main Street signs.  This sign is by the library, the other two are on 1st Avenue as you enter the Downtown District.  Only official Main Street Communities are allowed to put up these signs provided by the Iowa Economic Development Authority and Main Street Iowa.

Let's Talk about the Future "Look"
of Downtown Newton!
Wednesday, June 4th - 5:30-7:00 PM
Newton Public Library
Everyone is welcome to attend a special public meeting with our Main Street Design Committee featuring Tim Reinders, the Main Street Design Specialist from the Main Street State Office.  We'll meet at the Newton Library and talk about the future "look" of Downtown and how building and business owners can benefit from the Main Street Design process.

 Congratulations Bruce!

L-R - IEDA Director Debi Durham, Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, Bruce Showalter and Governor Terry Branstad.

Newton resident and Main street Board Member Bruce Showalter was honored at a Main Street Awards Banquet in Des Moines earlier this month.  Each Main Street Community chose a "Volunteer of the Year" to be recognized at the event. Bruce was instrumental in helping Newton become a Main Street Community.

85% Pledge Fulfillment is Underway!
Everyone who pledged to Main Street has been sent an invoice to fulfill their pledge. So far over 85% of you have responded!  Thank you so much for your pledge which allowed us to apply to be a Main Street Community!  If you misplaced your invoice, give us a call at (641) 792-5545 and we'll send you another one.

Main Street University!
Several of our Board members and volunteers recently attended a training conference in Greenfield Iowa called Main Street University.  It was very informative and gives us a blueprint as to how we move forward with our Main Street Program.

Volunteer Opportunities
We currently have 4 Main Street Committees in need of volunteers.  The committees are Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Restructuring.  The flyer below gives more details on the nature and focus of these committees.  If you are interested in joining a Main Street Committee, you can also follow the LINK below.

Want a Main Street Presentation given

Watch for More!
We hope to send out a Main Street Minute similar to this one at least 3 to 5 times a month.  If you ever have any questions, call us at (641) 792-5545 or email: info@experiencenewton.com.
