MAIN
STREET
UPDATE
Let's take a Good Downtown and Make it GREAT!

NEWS
- We've updated our pledge list to the right. Pledges highlighted in yellow are our most recent pledges. Thank you!

- Below we highlighted our visit to the Oskaloosa Main Street team - Follow this LINK for highlights of what they have accomplished.   As you can see, Main Street is not a quick fix, but the intentional adoption of a time-tested program and a set of standards that produces awesome results.

Special thanks to 1st Newton National Bank for making a 3 year pledge of $2,500 per year to our Newton Main Street Efforts!

The Clock is Ticking!!
With our application deadline quickly approaching, we thought we would begin a special E-Blast completely dedicated to our Main Street Application Efforts.

This Friday, Dec 6th is the deadline for our pledges.  Pledges are your annual commitment to the Main Street Program above and beyond your Chamber Dues (although anyone can donate to the Main Street Program).  We do not need checks at this point, but your pledge to give once we are accepted into the program. (We'll know in early Feb 2014!)  There are many links and documents in this E-Blast that can tell you more about the Main Street Program.

Can you give a donation now?  Yes! That will help with our application efforts. Lin Chape and The Dental Practice did just that. (see the Pledge Form).  But the 3 Year pledges are the crucial need at this point as far as us being accepted into the program.   Questions? - Just call us at 792-5545.

Main Street Pledges continue to come in!  Below are links to the documents you need to support this effort.

Pledges are due by Friday Dec 6th
Sign it on behalf of your Service Club, Business or organization!
If you have made a pledge or signed an endorsement letter, post this poster proudly!

KCOB
Our Chamber radio show airs every Friday morning at 8:40 AM on KCOB 1280 AM.  You can also link to the archives to hear the show anytime!  We'll keep this link on our Chamber E-blasts for your convenience.  A new show will be posted every Friday.  If you are interested in sponsoring the show, contact the radio station at (641) 792-5262.  Sponsors will have the opportunity to be interviewed on one of the shows.  Special thanks to KCOB and the staff at GoodRadio.TV for being a great community partner and taking the lead to launch this project.
LINKS to Business Blogs & Resources
This list changes now and then but these are great resources for anyone running a business or organization, small or large, for profit or not-for-priofit.

Co-author of "The Go-Giver", one of our recommended books.  It's all about doing business with those you know, like and trust.  If you are in sales or want to understand the power of networking, this is a great blog.

If you want to be remarkable, Seth will help you get started.  We recommended his book "The Big Moo" but he has much more to say.  Great for marketing ideas too.

Facebook? Twitter?  You'll find resources, links and articles for all of the all the latest tips and trends in social media.

Why do many small businesses fail?  Michael Gerber wrote a book called the E-Myth (The Entrepreneaur Myth - Voted #1 business book by Inc. 500 CEOs.) to examine that fact, and he's been coaching hundreds ever since.
