Important Extended Day Information

Dear Parents,

In education one of our biggest challenges is time. In order to make up the instructional time lost during the recent snow, an additional 30 minutes of instructional time will be added to each school day from March 3 through May 14. Our teachers will use this additional time to review concepts and skills as we prepare for end of year assessments, to provide more practice on concepts and skills currently being taught, to provide additional intervention and extension by meeting with small groups or individuals, and to practice test taking strategies.

Students will be dismissed at 3:50. If you need to check out your child early for an appointment, please come before 3:20.

As always, thank you for your support as we work together to maximize learning for every student!

Sincerely,

Karen Head

Principal

Tapestry Annual Art Show

Tapestry is an annual art show open to all students in Gwinnett county K-12. If you have never been to see it, I encourage you to come out this year because you will be amazed at the great art work on display from students in our county! The opening night is Tuesday, March 4 at the ISC building in Suwanee from 6-7:30. It is a free event and great fun for the whole family. This year, Brookwood Elementary has 26 talented artists representing our school. It is quite an honor for these students to have their work selected for this show. PTA Boosterthon Fun Run
"Build Character on the Go"

Parents,
We're excited to kick off the Boosterthon Fun Run at Brookwood on March 10th! The theme this year is Camp High Five. The goal of the Boosterthon Fun Run is to raise funds while teaching our kids about the importance of Fitness, Leadership, and Character. Our goal is to raise funds for an electronic sign for the school, additional technology, and other instructional materials. We need your help to connect your child to sponsors!  We are very excited to have the Boosterthon Fun Run Team on campus, as they will be adding value in so many ways to our students and school.

"Build Character on the Go" -  get a FREE APP by searching Boosterthon on your Apple or Android. It has fun character lessons, videos, music, and books your kids will love!

For more information on the Fun Run, go to Boosterthon.com.  Students will bring home more information about making pledges starting March 10th!

We appreciate your support BES PTA !
Colt Connections Cafe

Next time you eat lunch with your child, try eating in the new Cold Connections Cafe. This is a quieter area away from the hustle and bustle of the cafeteria where you can enjoy making connections with your child. Thank you Mrs. Patram, Mrs. Blanding, & Mrs. Peters for creating a warm and welcoming spot!

"Go For The Gold"

Mrs. Leonard's class finished a "Go for the Gold" Olympic Reading Challenge! Students got either gold, silver, or bronze medals based on how many books they read in February. Mrs. Leonard's medal-winners!
