Bring One For The Chipper.........
After the holidays, bring your old "live" tree- stripped of lights and decorations- to a drop-off site. Trees will be accepted through Jan. 18 at most Gwinnett fire stations and some local city locations. The trees will be "chipped" into mulch for use on lawns and at schools and parks. The project also saves precious landfill space. Volunteer to help with the "chipping" on Jan. 26. Contact the folks at Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful at gwinnettcb@gwinnettcb.org or call 770-822-5187. |

Holiday Letter From Principal, Karen Head |
Dear Parents,
It has been a hard but wonderful week at Brookwood Elementary! There is nothing that can lift your heart better than the smile, singing or laughter of a child and we have had lots of smiles, singing, and laughter this week. Thank you so much to all of you that supported our classroom holiday parties, our musical presentations, plays and other celebrations during this season! It was wonderful to see so many parents here for the programs and parties. I apologize for the long waits in the line to sign in but we have, of course, tightened all of our security procedures and I also wanted you all to know how that process works since it is a security procedure we have had in place for many years.
I am so grateful to be a part of the Brookwood Community! Your support means so much to us! Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide Christmas toys and clothes to lots of families this year. The receiving families are so grateful and you have lifted a burden for them. Thank you!
We are also thankful to the Gwinnett County Police Department, who has provided an officer for every Gwinnett County school this week. Officer Xavier Biggers was with us these three days and his presence was reassuring and calming. He was great with the kids too! After the holidays, he will not be here but we do continue to have a Gwinnett County Schools Security Resource Officer for the cluster who is housed at Brookwood High School and who supports us when needed. His name is Officer Thomas Williamson.
Thank you also for all of the gifts and goodies that you provided for the staff! You are such thoughtful, generous families!
I hope that you and your families have a wonderful holiday season and I know we will all be hugging our loved ones a little tighter! Thank you again for all that you do to make Brookwood Elementary the great place that it is and thank you for sharing your children with us! Please know that we take that responsibility very seriously and that we love your children! We will see the students back on January 3rd!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
