Puppets of the Mind
In the space of being human and seeing everything through the puppet lens of that perspective, it is difficult to recognize what complicates our own lives. Although one would watch a movie and clearly view the direction or choice a character should make, it is not so apparent in our selves. It is so much more difficult to view our own life with that same aloofness and non-attachment. It is a tremendous challenge to find the seed from where sprang a certain idea about something. And our whole life is nothing more than a tangled web of ideas, beliefs, interpretations, notions, perceptions, feelings, or meanings applied to any specific thing(s) -- which creates our everything. We spend our entire lives ideating and then trying to convince someone that our idea is the best, retelling and reselling our viewpoint about something. And this applies to the everything in our lives.

Prisoner of the Mind

zen garden It is amazing to see how strongly some ideas hold me prisoner in my own life. I have observed how the ideas that I place importance on are the ones that are the hardest to let go, like the intellectual concepts that I have been brought up to believe and are generally accepted norms about life and being human. Does any idea have any significance whatsoever? Does a tree in the forest have any significance or a pebble on the beach have any significance over any other tree or any other pebble?

Become Water waterfall

Water knows no fear, anticipation, or surprise.
Remaining calm, clear, and true,
It suffers not the future
And reflects beauty in tranquility.

Water neither seeks nor resists conflict.
Flowing with simplicity and efficiency,
It suffers not the present
And reflects beauty in turbulence.

Water dwells not on drama or regret.
Resuming the original condition,
It suffers not the past
And reflects beauty in equilibrium.

... Become Water!
