I first came in contact with Canson papers in 1977 when I was studying printmaking at Ohio University. In 1980 when I founded Cone Editions Press in Port Chester, NY I began professionally printing on Arches, Rives, Etching Rag and many other Canson papers became the basis of my collaborative experimental printmaking for many internationally renowned painters, sculptors and photographers. I used Canson papers for Etching, Silkscreen, Relief print, monoprint, and copper plate aquatint photogravure.Today, Canson is one of the two "house brands" at Cone Editions Press. We post about humidity on our blog from time to time. A lot of our ink customers do not realize that Epson recommends printing only in humidity levels of 35% to 65%. When the humidity drops (as it does in the winter), you can expect more missing nozzles and banding. These are not clogs! These are produced from print heads which become to dry to emit droplets!  Learn more.

At Cone Editions Press, where I'm Master Printer, we have begun a long collaboration with the world's most recognized war photographer, James Nachtwey. I consider James to be a fine art photographer with a really strong subject matter. Others call him one of the bravest war photographers ever. I have never worked in collaboration with someone with as keen an eye for detail, color and quality as Nachtwey has. He is absolutely a no compromise sort of guy. We proof full-size quite often. James and I are sitting together working on calibrated displays sometimes late in the night till 1am. His energy is amazing and it fits mine. His work of course, is extraordinary. He has been witness to the fall of the Berlin wall, the fall of Bagdad, the fall of the Trade Center towers. He has photographed Afghansitan, Iraq and witnessed the tragedies in Bosnia, Kosovo and Rwanda. We're producing Piezography Selenium black & white prints and ConeColor prints on JonCone Studio Type 5 paper for an upcoming exhibition at the Currier Museum of Art. David Chow is one of the world's best platinum printers. His DC Editions produces prints for many of the leading photographers in Europe and UK. A continuing downer... The amount of Epson ink customers experiencing permanently clogged print heads continues. We reported that print heads were in short supply in 2012/2013. The issue that is plaguing customers is in our opinion caused by the new head design in combination with the removal of the Power Clean function.
