The DeLong Company Breaks Ground at Logistics Park Kansas City
The export facility will provide a logistical solution to bring local agricultural products to global markets.
EDGERTON, Kan. − Elected officials from the City of Edgerton, Johnson County and the State of Kansas along with representatives from The DeLong Co. and the Edgerton Land Holding Company, LLC, an entity created by the owners of NorthPoint Development, held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the 8.8-acre 25,000 square foot grain distribution facility on Monday, April 22.
The DeLong Co. facility is the first tenant at Logistics Park Kansas City (LPKC). The company plans to export more than 100 agricultural products loads per day to global markets using the BNSF Intermodal Facility. The state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to open fall 2013 in time to accept local crops from the fall harvest and will offer reloading services to importers who locate within LPKC.
The company estimates it will have 8 - 15 employees and will have 7,500 metric tons of bulk storage at the facility.
