Trustees approve new teacher housing option

With the need for teachers still very much an issue, school board members voted to give district leaders the permission to purchase housing to help bring new recruits to Odessa.

The property at 909 W. 2nd Street is already being used as apartment homes. It has 31 units with private bathrooms and kitchens. If the building is purchased it will give ECISD a total of 47 housing units for teachers - the Chancellor House, purchased by the school district last year, has 16 bedrooms.
