What lies ahead for Ector County ISD? Our student enrollment did not drop significantly with the drop in oil prices, and that begs the question of what does the community want for its schools in the next five years? Ten years?

Superintendent Tom Crowe starts that discussion in his latest
Crowe's Chronicles blog post.
Moo Day

Every year our ECISD School Nutrition Department coordinates the Moo Day milk promotion for any students who want to participate. The premise is simple - students and their families (parental involvement) can use their imaginations to create something spectacular out of a carton, jug, chug, or any other container that once held milk. Entries come from across the District and each year it gets harder to pick the winners!

The one pictured - in John Deere green - was the grand prize winner but take a couple of minutes to check the other spectacular projects on our Ector County ISD Facebook page.

Regional results

Two of our cross country teams closed out successful seasons earlier this week.

The Permian Lady Panthers, who finished second at the district meet, placed 19th today in arguably the most competitive region in the state. Freshman Natalie Terry was the team's highest finisher, coming in 45th. Jasmin Campos, Ivi Quinonez, Yvette Serrano, Annamaria Juarez, Mellennie Herrera, and Bria Montes rounded out the squad for MOJO.

The Odessa High boys, who also placed second at the district meet, finished 18th today at regionals. Jr. Bejarano, a sophomore, led the way with a 31st place finish. Aaron Ramirez, Timothy Wimberly, Daniel Marquez, Edwardo Hurtado, Herbe Juniga, and Armando Jimenez also competed for the Bronchos.

Permian's Alex Legerreta qualified for the regional meet as an individual. Well done, to all of our student-athletes and their coaches!

Playoff matchup

The Permian High School volleyball team opens the playoffs on Tuesday night with a bi-district match against Arlington Lamar. The contest will be played at Moody Coliseum on the campus of Abilene Christian University at 6:00 p.m. Adults tickets are $5, student tickets are $3.

What language is that?

On Saturday, November 7, ECISD will hold its very first Language Fair, courtesy of our district's foreign language department. You'll find information about foreign languages offered at our schools, and experience these other cultures through food, music, games and contests. Check it out!
