High School Opening Edition
Ready for students!

After a two-week delay due to construction, Odessa High School and Permian High School will open on Tuesday morning! While construction will continue in several areas on campus, the new academic buildings will be ready for students & staff next week. Most of the continuing work will be done in the evenings, on weekends, and on holidays.

You're seeing a couple of photos from each school this week. One is a student common area at OHS, the other a view of Permian's new academic wing from the first floor.

Of course, the opening brings with it some big changes for our two comprehensive high schools: 9th-graders are now on the campus instead of at our junior highs; freshmen and sophomores are not allowed to leave campus for lunch, while juniors and seniors can; the PHS kitchen renovation/expansion is not complete so the ECISD School Nutrition Department is setting up a mobile kitchen to prepare food on site; the OHS kitchen is also being expanded but it is working.
Traffic changes at OHS

We want to give you one last reminder about the traffic changes instituted in the area around Odessa HS. You will notice in the map here several streets in front of the school are now ONE WAY streets allowing traffic to flow into the school from the streets on the north and south but flow only out on 12th Street and 13th Street.

Please remember there will be more students and parents at the school for pick up and drop off. Thank you for your patience as we all adjust to these changes!

PHS Alters Homecoming Date

Homecoming for PHS is now Friday, October 9. The original date was September 11 but with the delayed start of school it gave the Panthers just four days to organize all the related campus events. The Booster Bash, Bonfire & Street Dance will take place on Wednesday, October 7, from 6:00 - 10:00 pm in the East Parking Lot.
Texas Scholars Agency & Information Fair

The annual Texas Scholars Agency & Information Fair is this Tuesday, September 8, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the Saulsbury Room at Odessa College.

This is a great chance for any 9th-12th graders who want to graduate with the Texas Scholar distinction to meet with, and get information about, local non-profit agencies at which they can volunteer. High school students in the Texas Scholars program are required to volunteer a minimum of 5 hours as a freshman, 10 as a sophomore, 15 as a junior and 20 as a senior. This is an opportunity for both the student and the non-profit to make connections and start building those relationships.

Labor Day Holiday

All ECISD schools will be closed on Monday, September 7, for the Labor Day holiday. Be safe and enjoy the long weekend!
