Commencements Commence

June 4 marks the last day of the year - except for the students at Gale Pond Alamo Year-round Elementary - and it means our three high school graduations are upon us!

New Tech Odessa will hold its graduation at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center.

Odessa High School will hold its graduation at 8:30 p.m. on Friday night at Ratliff Stadium.

Permian High School will hold its graduation at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night at Ratliff Stadium.

We are expecting good weather for the two outdoor ceremonies but just in case, you can find a bad weather make up plan here.

Celebrating Outstanding Teachers

On June 1 ECISD Trustees and administrators hosted a dinner for our 38 Outstanding Teachers - one from each campus. Each honoree received a framed certificate and a $500 award, courtesy of a private donation. At the end of the evening district officials announced Amy Richter from Austin Montessori as the Elementary Teacher of the Year (pictured top) and Cheryl Cunningham from the Advanced Technical Center at NTO as the Secondary Teacher of the Year. As part of this honor, Amy & Cheryl each received a $1,000 gift from the Education Foundation of Odessa!
You can see all of our Outstanding Teachers on our Ector County ISD Facebook page.

Calling All Teachers!

We are looking to fill some 300 teacher positions this summer. Join us at this job fair on June 22, 4-7pm at the Odessa Downtown Lions Club. The first-year teacher salary is $45,000 plus $3,000 as a retention incentive.

Cans for Kids Successful Again

On Wednesday, ECISD School Nutrition officially wrapped up its 2015 Cans for Kids campaign. The 49,519 pounds of food is the second highest total in the 12 year history of the effort. The blue bins you see are only part of the haul - the boxes in shrink-wrap in the back room are part of the donation, too!

Cans for Kids benefits the West Texas Food Bank. Check out our album of pictures on Facebook that includes the schools and the students that won prizes.
