Early Release Day This Friday

Don't forget, the final Early Release Day of the year is this Friday, May 22. Just like the ones earlier in the year, elementary schools will dismiss at noon and secondary schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. Parents of Pre-K students should call their child's campus to check the day's schedule.

Top 10 Graduates!

At the May 19 Board of Trustees meeting the top 10 graduates from each of our high schools were announced for the first time. In most cases they were separated by only hundredths of a point. Congratulations to all of these students, their parents, and their teachers!

Memorial Day is a regular school day

This year - because of the bad weather day we were forced to take on February 27 - Memorial Day, May 25, is a makeup day for that missed day of school.

February 27 was the district's second bad weather of the year and, unfortunately, came after one of the scheduled makeups had passed. Texas school districts are required to make up at least two days missed due to weather. Because of the timing the choices for the second makeup day came down to Memorial Day, Good Friday, or a Saturday. In an effort to make the best of the situation, ECISD's Curriculum & Instruction Department will create lessons and activities specifically for Memorial Day so students will get a better understanding of the holiday and the sacrifices of the veterans it memorializes.
