Final School Boundary Adjustments Presented

After adding this year's student data to our demographic profile several of our schools went over the recommended capacity designated for next year, and that requires some adjustments be made to the new elementary school and middle school boundaries adopted in November. These changes even out enrollment at each campus, and if approved by the board next week, these will be the final boundaries put into effect for next school year.

This also highlights the need to review boundaries on a regular basis to make sure a school's (or many schools') enrollment does not get out of balance.

Trustees Consider Graduation Change

The Board of Trustees is considering making a change to the graduation policy that allows high school seniors to participate in the graduation ceremony even if they have not passed all of their state exams. The State of Texas does not award a high school diploma until a student has passed all local requirements AND all required state tests.

The proposed change to this policy would require all graduating students to meet all state requirements before being allowed to walk the stage at graduation. If approved, the change would go into effect next year with the Class of 2016.
