It is the flower of the holiday, and our ECISD Horticulture class has you covered. They started growing these plants early in the semester - it wasn't always easy as this story in yesterday's newspaper shows - and they are now ready for sale to the public for $5 each.
The poinsettia sale will run all of next week, from the 8th through the 12th, at the ECISD Greenhouse at 104 S. Grandview. They will be open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. each day.

The Bonham JH robotics classes hosted a regional tournament at UTPB today. The competition is fierce and awards are given, and this tournament gives local programs a chance to face each other in competition before the Area Meet in January. They will be striving to advance to the state meet at that one. Eleven schools and more than 300 students participated. Go Owls and good luck next month! An album of pictures from today's event can be seen on our Ector County ISD Facebook page. Go and "Like" your favorites!

In early November the folks from Jesus House showed up at Blackshear Elementary with this supply of school supplies! A much needed - and much appreciated - donation.

Breaking Bread & Breaking Down Barriers
This year at the Alternative Education Center students experienced a Thanksgiving to remember. Before school let out students joined together at one big table in the gym to be served by their teachers and staff who care deeply for them. Many had never had a big family meal or seen a turkey sliced before, but 110 students' bellies were full at the end of the day! The feast was provided by Jalisco's #1, Big Daddy's, La Margarita, and our very own teachers, so the kids enjoyed an unending array of delicious food.
There is something about coming together and breaking bread alongside each other, as a family. A family atmosphere fosters relationships that bring healing, trust, confidence, and build self-esteem. Reaching the students on a psycho-social level is a goal of the AEC that will not only facilitate the students' success in school but in life. The students come from varying backgrounds that may not always be healthy but the AEC is striving to bring the light back to its students eyes through events that promote unity and trust like the Thanksgiving Feast.
