The Rivalry Renewed

Odessa High School and Permian High School renew their rivalry on the football field tonight, and both teams have their eyes on the playoffs. As always, a big crowd is expected and a specific traffic plan will be enforced by police. Basically, traffic from the west will enter and exit on the west side of the stadium; traffic from the each will enter and exit only on the east. You can find maps illustrating the flow of traffic on our Ector County ISD Facebook page.

Bound for State!

Congratulations to Permian High School Lady Panther Miah Nelson for qualifying for the Cross Country State Championship. Miah placed 13th at the regional meet in Lubbock Friday, one of the top ten individual who qualified for state.

That is her third from the left one week ago, when the Lady Panthers won the District 3-6A team title by one point over Odessa High School's Lady Bronchos. At the regional meet, PHS placed 10th and OHS 17th. The Odessa High boys' team finished 15th in Lubbock.

Milk & Moms (and Dads)

Every year our ECISD School Nutrition Department coordinates the Moo Day milk promotion for any students who want to participate. The premise is simple - students and their families (parental involvement) can use their imaginations to create something spectacular out of a carton, jug, chug, or any other container that once held milk. Entries come from across the District and each year it gets harder to pick the winners! The "Most Educational" seen here is just one example. We invite you to visit our Ector County ISD Facebook page to see lots more!

No Holiday Here

Just because students were out of school on October 31 doesn't mean our faculty members weren't busy! Friday featured a full day of professional development for everyone. One of our school district's missions is to create life-long learners of our students - we can't do that unless our teachers and faculty take the same approach their work! Big, big thanks to our Campus Curriculum Facilitators, coordinators, directors, and other facilitators who worked hard to ensure our teachers receive quality staff development!

Mayor, Crime Stoppers puts Focus on Underage Drinking

On Thursday Odessa City Manager Richard Morton spoke on behalf of the mayor when he announced a $1,000 donation to Crime Stoppers aimed specifically at curbing underage drinking and drug use. Crime Stoppers will offer rewards beginning at $200 for tips that lead to citations for underage drinking and drugs. Here is a link to the Odessa Crime Stoppers web site if you are looking for information.
