Milam Elementary puts Pandora on trial

Third and fourth grade GT students from Milam elementary fought tirelessly as both the prosecution and defense teams in the case of The People v. Pandora.  The unique lesson took place in the Ector County Courthouse with Judge Chris Clark presiding and fifth grade teacher, Stephanie Clark in the defendant's chair portraying Pandora.

Pandora was ultimately found guilty of unleashing illnesses and misfortune on her people when she opened a box given to her by the Greek gods.
The lesson encompassed various GT studies including their reading of Pandora's Box myth, the American legal system and public speaking.  Visit ECISD's Facebook page a glimpse inside the courtroom!

Odessa College  inspiring 6th graders

After speaking with sixth grade students on the importance of career goals and higher education Dr. Williams,President of Odessa College, drove the point home to students by having them all sign letters of intent.  The letters signified their desire to graduate high school and their interest in attending and eventually graduating from Odessa College.

This is just one of the many efforts that OC has partnered with ECISD in hopes to makes our students college and work force ready.  Thank you, OC for the support! View more pictures from the event on ECISD's Facebook.
