The Flipped Classroom
Turning Traditional Education on its Head

Some ECISD teachers are bringing a new teaching method into their classrooms with the new 'flipped classroom.'

This innovative approach to teaching evolved when some began to realize they were only engaging and teaching a select group of students.  A small percentage of the students understood the classroom material and did not feel challenged enough, while other found themselves struggling to keep up with the latest topics.  The new method has students viewing the class lecture and topics virtually and discussing the outcomes in class.  Thus, giving each student the opportunity to work at their own pace or level and receive extra assistance from teachers if needed.

For full details of the story, visit out website and take a glimpse at ECISD teachers implementing this in our ECISD classrooms.

ECISD celebrates National Volunteer Week

Did you know, this year there are 615 volunteers who provided 41,500 hours of service, which is worth more than $950,000 in savings for our taxpayers! It is because of their dedication to education in Ector County that we can continue many of the activities, events and extracurricular programs for our students.

April 17, ECISD hosted a luncheon to thank many of our hardworking volunteers.  For a sneak peek of pictures from the event, check of the Ector County ISD Volunteer and Partner's Facebook page.
Reaching Out to Hood Junior High
An Uplifting message from Nimitz Junior High

After almost two weeks away from their school, Hood students finally returned to their home campus just in time to begin their STAAR tests and were surprised by a kind gesture.

Their peers at Nimitz Junior High sent a special note of encouragement.  All students signed a banner wishing Hood students their absolute best on their tests.  Thanks to Nimitz for the warm welcome home to Hood students and staff.
