Battle of the Bluebonnets
And the winner is....
Noel Elementary students jumped for joy when they were named as the district winners of the Battle of the Bluebonnets competition.  The team won a tie breaker with LBJ during the quiz-like reading competition.

The competition is funded by a grant from the Education Foundation.  Fourteen campuses participated this year, each forming teams and reading a set of Bluebonnet Award books.  The teams then answered questions from any and all of the books in the month-long competition. Outstanding job to all the participants!
West Texas Relays
Cheering on our ECISD runners

This week marks the 70th anniversary of the West Texas Relays.  Runners from all levels ranging from varsity to freshman will be competing in the races beginning this Friday, March 7.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has also added two new wheelchair events-the 100 meters and shot put, a first-ever event for the relays. Visit the ECISD Athletics Department page to view the full schedule of events.
Walking on the EDGE
LBJ students get a taste of the college life

Students from Johnson Elementary spent a day "Exploring the Dream of Getting an Education" (EDGE) at the University of Texas at Permian Basin.  The trip was made possible by an Education Foundation grant.  Students visited UTPB's nursing simulation center, science lecture halls, and geology labs.

The field trip was designed to show students that higher education is within their reach and in their future.  Check out all the interactive photos on the Education Foundation's Facebook page.

How ECISD celebrated Dr. Seuss ' birthday

There were plenty of these smiling faces seen around ECISD as campuses took some time to celebrate the famous author's birthday.  A Who from Who-villle strolled the hallways, school Nutrition offered green eggs & ham for lunch and principals dressed up as the Cat in The Hat.
