100 Days Smarter
Celebrating a landmark school day

In celebration of the 100th day of school, we've seen more graying hairs and wrinkles slowly apperaing around the district, everyone's turning 100 days old! Zavala Elementary's old folks spent all day learning with their reading glasses and canes.

In case anyone is wondering, by the time we finish this school year, they will be 175 days smarter.  Time flies when we're having fun!
A Memorable Homecoming
Happy to have a  hero back

Madison Cain once raved to her friends during their after-school Camp Fire program about her uncle.  Little did she know that after spending 7 month overseas, her hero would surprise her last Friday.

We captured the reunion on our YouTube and Facebook pages, be sure to check them out!

A certified therapy dog is has been added to the list of ECISD volunteers.  Abby, a loving golden retriever and her owner, Donna, visited Burnet Elementary to to help students with their reading skills.  Students loved having Abby as an audience member and Abby didn't seem to mind the attention either!

MCH offers fun learning opportunities

In this digital age, a common complaint can be heard from some- children do not receive the exercise their bodies need. Medical Center Health System teamed with Ireland Elementary to bring HealthTeacher and GoNoodle to their campus.  The programs teach students the importance of good eating habits and an active lifestyle.

Kindergarten students are introduced to the program by discussing what a healthy meal consists of and what food group their favorite snacks are a part of.  Sixth grade students solved math problems while jogging in place.  Physical Education is even incorporating Zumba moves into their classes.  Read about the students' reactions to this new style of teaching, on our website.
