Welcome new Trustees | |
On Tuesday, May 21, ECISD welcomed three new Trustees when Dr. Steve Brown, Nelson Minyard, and Doyle Woodall were sworn in at the start of that night's meeting. All three and Teri Wheat Ervin were elected to the school board on May 11. Mrs. Ervin was out of town on a personal matter and will be sworn in at the next opportunity.
We want to thank our outgoing school board members - Fay Batch, Dr. Donnie Norwood, Tom Pace, and Yollie Wilkins - for their years of service to our district.

New principals named for six elementary schools |
Interim Superintendent Dr. H.T. Sanchez recently announced the hiring of six new principals for next year. The six schools, the new principal, and their current positions are listed below:
- Gale Pond Alamo: Michelle Jarnigan, AP at Ireland
- Austin: Crystal Castillo, AP at Travis
- Cavazos: Maribel Aranda, AP at LBJ
- LBJ: Scott Houston, AP at Gale Pond Alamo
- Milam: Natalie Fitzgerald, AP at Milam
- Travis: Tonya Galindo, AP at Burnet
These changes were announced before the end of the school year so campus employees will know who will be leading their school before summer vacation begins. The interview process was comprehensive and inclusive. It began with the screening of applications, an interview with the Superintendent's Leadership Team that included a 30-minute presentation and 40-minute question-based interview, an interview with teachers from the schools involved, and an interview with Dr. Sanchez. This process helped determine the best fit for each school's new leader. |

Summer tennis across the Pond |
Odessa High junior Ryan Morton had quite a season for the Bronchos as he and mixed doubles partner Kaleigh Smith made a terrific run all the way to the Region I tennis tourna ment this spring. It will get even better...
In June and July Ryan will be part of the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch and will spend three weeks in England and Scotland competing against various tennis academies, playing in a tournament, and attending Wimbledon. Ryan was one of eight boys and eight girls selected from 150 competitors during the Top Gun tennis camp held in December. The players were chosen based on their tennis talent and leadership qualities. |
