Trustees authorize sale of bonds

The work on ECISD's current bond project is moving along. The Board of Trustees took a big step forward on January 22 when it voted unanimously to authorize the sale of the school bonds under the following parameters:

  • A maximum of $129,750,000 (the amount approved by voters in November);
  • A maximum true interest cost rate of 4%;
  • A maturity date of August 2028;
  • Bonds must be sold by July 22, 2013 (a six month window)

Please see item E in this recap of the board meeting to find out more about the sale of these bonds.

Nine named All-State Musicians
MUSIC NOTES Congratulations to nine ECISD students selected as All-State Musicians by the Texas Music Educators Association! With the honor they will perform in February at the TMEA Clinic/Convention, which is the largest music educators' conference of its kind in the United States. Meet the students...
Reading is elementary

Reading really can be fun, especially at Family Reading Night. Elementary schools across ECISD are hosting Family Reading Nights as part of the District's new literacy framework. On January 15 Cameron Dual Language Magnet held its first Family Reading Night, and saw a great turn out for the myriad of reading activities ranging from giant pop-up books to puzzles to karaoke. Family Reading Night serves a two-fold purpose. First, is to promote literacy between grades PK-2 so that students will have a good foundation. Second is to try to get parents involved and make reading fun. Parents leave the event with simple learning strategies that they can use at home.

Exelon is excellent!

Exelon Generation Quail Run Power Generation Plant Manager Jeff Klier and staff donated more than 150 new coats to the ECISD Community Outreach Center in December. The coats will be distributed to needy students throughout the District over the coming months.
