PRRAC Update

September 10, 2015

Agenda now available for the Sept 24-25 National School Diversity Conference:
"21st Century School Integration: Building the Movement for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion," featuring a policy plenary with Department of Education Deputy Secretary John King, a keynote lunch discussion with New York Times reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones, and an afternoon plenary session with student activists from St. Louis.  Plus workshops on best practices in diverse schools, parent organizing, and linking housing and school policy.  Thursday opening reception at the Mayflower Hotel; Friday main conference at Howard University Law School. Sponsored by the National Coalition on School Diversity.  See the current agenda here and register here.

Title VI and Treasury:  In July, the Treasury Department finally issued draft rules to comply with the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but left out the multi-billion dollar Low Income Housing Tax Credit program from the list of programs covered. A coalition of civil rights groups has responded with these comments filed yesterday.
