PRRAC Update

Regional housing mobility conference January 9 in Philadelphia:  PRRAC is pleased to be supporting a HUD-sponsored conference, Moving to Higher Opportunity Summit: Exploring Options and Opportunities for Housing Mobility, highlighting the potential of housing mobility programs to expand housing choice and improve outcomes for low income families and children living in high poverty neighborhoods. This free conference will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Montgomery County Community College Science Center, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA.  HUD Deputy Secretary Maurice Jones will kick off the day with a keynote address, followed by expert panels on housing mobility and supporting older, diverse suburbs.

The National Initiative on Mixed-Income Communities is a new project of the Center on Urban Poverty and Community Development at Case Western Reserve University.   


School reform and school diversity in NYC: A new report from the Education Funders Research Initiative recommends six education priorities for incoming NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, including the need for efforts to "cultivate greater racial and economic integration in schools."    


"The Resegregation of Public Schools":  A special issue of "School Administrator" magazine devoted to strategies for expanding school diversity, with articles from Louisville, Omaha, Wake County, and diverse suburban districts across the country.   Read the issue here or for a more high tech version, here.
