Plan on starting the New Year off with some fabulous music on Sunday afternoons as we begin the 9th year of our very popular Sundays at 4 Music Series. It all begins on Sunday, January 19th with "Sinti Rhythm: Hot Jazz and Gypsy Swing" performing in the Main Reading Room of the Library.

Please note: The library will be CLOSED on Monday, January 20 in observation of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Sinti Rhythm: Hot Jazz and Gypsy Swing
Sunday, January 19 @ 4PM

Reserve your seat!
Sinti Rhythm is an exciting quartet performing vintage swing music in the style of the great Gypsy jazz guitarist, Django Reinhardt.  With clarinet, two guitars, and string bass, they play standards from the Great American Songbook, lesser-known gems from the '20s and '30s, works by Django, and original pieces--all with a fresh, lighthearted sound and infectious beat that hearken back to the pre-war heyday of classic jazz.

We are grateful to the Friends of the Amherst Town Library for the funding for this concert.

Coming Soon... to the Children's Room

Lego-My-Library

On Friday, January 17, from 2-4, our huge supply of Legos will be available for kids, ages 5 and up, who love to build. You supply the creativity, and we'll supply the Legos!

Make-it/Take-it Craft

Come to the Children's Room any time during the week of January 20-26 to make a "winter mobile".

"Paws for Reading" with Anna and Leo
Come to the Children's Room to read to our canine friends, Anna and Leo. "Paws for Reading" is a therapy-dog program to encourage emerging readers, and/or to help more experienced readers consolidate their skills. It's great for building confidence in your beginning reader.

This month Anna and Leo will be here on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 3:30pm. Although all of our appointments are filled for the 14th, there are still openings for the 28th, so please call or come in to sign up for a 15-minute slot.
Remember, the library is a happening place and your library card is your ticket to free books, magazines, music, movies, Internet access, enriching programs and much more!

Sincerely,
