New Birth of Freedom: The Enduring Importance of the American Civil War

Professor Dan Breen,of Newbury College in Brookline, MA will explore some of the ways in which American life was transformed by the war, in ways that no one could have predicted at the time of the first cannonades at Fort Sumter. Dr. Keith Williams discusses the work of three giants of nineteenth century American letters relative to the American Civil War.
