And the word of the year is....
Oxford Dictionaries just announced that their word of the year for 2013 is "selfie".

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the staff of the Amherst Town Library want to thank the Trustees and volunteers who help us, the Garden Club who cares for our grounds, the Department of Public Works who maintains our building, the Friends of the Library who use their energy and funds to enrich our programs and services, and most especially, YOU, our patrons, who make make coming to work every day such a delight. Thank you.

Ladybug Book Award

The Ladybug Picture Book Award is designed to promote early literacy and honor the best in recent children's picture books. Every fall, the winning title is chosen from a list of nominees by a vote of New Hampshire children from preschoolers to those in third grade.
There will be ballots and a ballot box available in the Children's Room from Monday, Nov. 25 until Tuesday, Dec. 10th. Come on in and cast your vote!

Kirkus Reviews - Best of 2013

In December, Kirkus Reviews releases their picks for the best books published in that year. So far, they've announced their choices for best fiction and best children's books of 2013. Each week they'll release another list (teen, nonfiction, indie).
Take a look at their picks and check one out today!
Family Gingerbread Workshop - overflow session!

This upcoming program proved so popular that we've added another session. Join us on Saturday, December 14 1:30-3:00.
We'll provide the space, the graham crackers, the frosting and the music, you bring a bag of candy to contribute to a pot-luck supply, and we'll build some beautiful houses!

Remember, the library is a happening place and your library card is your ticket to free books, magazines, music, movies, Internet access, enriching programs and much more!

Sincerely,
