Spread the Word: September is Library Card Sign-up Month...
... a time when the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country remind library patrons that a library card is the smartest card you can own. Whether you're a student heading back to school, a job seeker looking for ways to increase your prospects, or simply looking for free entertainment, the Amherst Town Library is here to help. A library card gives you access to books and computers, databases, homework help, test preparation and skills improvement courses, accurate financial information, music, movies, museum passes and more. And during the month of September, new patrons who register for a card at the Amherst Town Library will receive a free library bookbag.
Getting a library card is easy! Anyone living, working or owning property in Amherst is eligible for a card. Residents and property owners should present a photo ID and printed verification of address when applying for a card. Employees working in Amherst should bring a letter verifying employment signed by their employer. Children under age 12 should come with a parent. Non-residents attending Amherst schools are also eligible for a student card, valid year-round until graduation.
For more information on how to sign up for a library card, visit the library, call 673-2288 or visit the library website. Remember, a library card is a card for a lifetime!

Farewell, Sarah
After three years of dedicated service to Amherst community, Sarah St. Martin, will be leaving her post as Technical Services Librarian. Sarah has accepted a position as the Head of Technical Services at the Manchester City Library. Her last day will be Friday, Sept. 20, so be sure to stop in to say farewell.
During her tenure here, Sarah has made some real improvements to the classification and arrangement of our collection, and our acquisition processes. She will be sorely missed but we celebrate the exciting opportunity that awaits her in the next chapter of her career.

"Amherst is a New Hampshire gem," Google said. "The historic city has moved into the future with a digitally savvy business community that connects with customers to grow awareness and commerce."
