The Amherst Town Library offers page internships to students in local high schools. Page positions are filled for two or three years, depending on the date of hire, and culminate in August of the respective senior year.
The deadline to submit applications is Monday, April 22, 2013.

A Storm of Angels: Spring Songbird MigrationTuesday, April 2 at 7PM
One of the most exciting events of the year for naturalists is spring songbird migration during which up to 80 species of songbirds can be observed. Award-winning nature photographer and ecologist Brooks Mathewson will discuss the wintering, migratory, and breeding ecology of these flycatchers, vireos, thrushes, wood warblers, tanagers, and sparrows as well as the factors contributing to their declines. Brooks will also present his stunning photography of this diverse group of birds. Registration is REQUIRED for this program due to space limitations. |
Chelsea Flower Show Tuesday, April 9 @ 7PM
 Presenter Maureen Bovet offers a wonderful armchair travelogue of "London's Chelsea Flower Show." All the beautiful garden scenes of the Chelsea Flower Show-held each May in London, England-are included in this photo show. Maureen brings a unique background in horticulture, garden design, and European history. She has attended the Chelsea Flower Show five times in recent years and will guide you on a royal tour of this glorious English gardening event. Registration is REQUIRED for this program due to space limitations. |
 Connecting your Emerging Reader with Books : An Early Literacy Program with Sue Ruggiero

Our own wonderful Miss Sue (M.S. Ed in Reading Education from Syracuse University) will share her years of expertise and experience with us in a program for parents. Encouraging your child, who is just beginning to attempt independent reading, can be a challenge. Miss Sue will help familiarize you with our "Early Reader" collection and offer tips on finding the right books for your child. If you have, or will have, an emerging reader, don't miss this program!
Space is limited, so registration is required. Register online or by call 673-2288. Miss Sarah will be on hand to entertain children-please include their first names and ages in the 'name' field when you register. |
