An Update from Sharon
David and I live in a two-story condo with carpeted stairs (we've both expressed concern over that). I was heading downstairs to go to water aerobics, then on to teach at Capital last Monday, the 7th. David was coming behind me and, as his wont, saying something funny. I turned to say something in reply and skipped a step. I had done that before, but was able to right myself. This time, however, I had bags in both hands. The one in my right hand seemed to drag, and I flew over three steps, landing on my knees on stone tiles. Thanks be, my left leg and both arms are fine and I didn't hit my head. But my right knee is out of alignment and there is a fracture in the tibia.
I went to the ER and had surgery that night. I have "pins" and hardware in spades. I stayed a full week in Dublin Methodist, because the anesthesia caused a temporary bowel obstruction. I am now in The Convalarium in Dublin. Supposed to have therapy for a while and then another surgery to put in permanent plates and screws. This will be followed by more therapy, still.
Thank you all for your concern and your prayers! This will be a long process--please pray for patience.
