Harcourt's New Priest-in-Charge
A Message from Mother Rachel
I cannot believe that, as of writing this message, I have only been "on the job" at Harcourt and Kenyon for three days. I must confess it was a surreal--but powerful--experience to preach and celebrate the Eucharist at the parish that played such an important part in the early stages of my spiritual journey. I have also had many opportunities to meet students and other members of the community. Ideas are already churning about new ministry possibilities. It is such a joy to come into a community with so much energy.

Thank you again to all those who worked to make our transition from Toronto to Gambier as smooth as possible. Leeman and I have been very touched by the well wishes and the offers of help we have received (especially considering that we still don't have our furniture!). Despite the delay in getting our possessions across the border, it already feels like we are settling into a rhythm. Leeman, Amanda, and Bilbo have already become regulars at the village dog park and I have set my regular office hours for at least the foreseeable future. You can be sure to find me Mondays 10am-12pm and Tuesdays/Thursday1pm-3pm. That said, please feel free to pay me a visit in the office any time you like, or e-mail me.

It is hard to say exactly what God has in store for Harcourt Parish in the months and years that are ahead of us. I do know that I am excited to find out, and I am excited to work with the saints of Harcourt to make God's presence known in the community and the college.

In Christ,

Mother Rachel
Parish House Help Saturday
Supervisor Needed Nov. 7
Kenyon students have volunteered to help with projects at the Parish House this Saturday, Nov. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., but we need a Harcourt Parish volunteer to supervise since our junior warden is unavailable. Can you spare two hours to help direct the students? The simple tasks and supplies are ready to go, we just need someone to oversee the work. Please contact Susan Givens ASAP if you can help.
