Greetings!
This is our semi annual Newsletter issue dedicated to you, our valued RCMP patients. It's almost year end and if you're needing care and have been putting it off, you should be taking advantage of your remaining health benefits before they roll over for the next year. We've also heard through a few of you that your benefits may be changing for 2013 so we'll send you updated information once we've received that information from Blue Cross.
Performance Chiropractic and Wellness has many practitioners and services that are beneficial for health and wellness for healing and maintenance; some which might be new to you. On staff we currently have 2 Chiropractors, 7 Registered Massage Therapists, a Naturopathic Doctor and a Registered Acupuncturist. We offer a variety of treatments and services and below I'll tell you a little more about that. We are a full service clinic and have all of the necessary forms for direct billing. We look forward to seeing you again sometime soon.
Cheers, Monica Office Manager and Wellness Coordinator

Chiropractic
Dr Garret Kusch and Dr Ryan Flatt
Chiropractors work with your body's "total neuro-musculo-skeletal system" - which controls your nerves, muscles and bones. Because the body's various systems depend on one another to function properly, the neuro-musculo-skeletal system plays a primary role in your health. Chiropractic doctors use their hands to administer specific adjustments to joints that are fixated or not moving well. These adjustments are safe, painless and non-invasive, and positively affect the nervous system, muscles and immune system.
Fixated joints occur when muscles are overused, overworked or affected by trauma and inflammation. These fixated areas can cause symptoms of pain, numbness, and weakness. Chiropractic, especially in combination with soft tissue therapy such as Active Release Technique, helps to restore motion to the joints and muscles and allows the body to function optimally.
Conditions commonly treated by Chiropractors:
- Ankle and Achilles Injuries
- Back Pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Frozen Shoulder
- Headaches and Migraines
- Hip Pain
- IT Band Syndrome
- Knee Injuries
- Nerve Entrapments
- Plantar Fascitis
- Repetitive Strain and Overuse Injuries
- Rotator Cuff Injuries
- Sciatica
- Shin Splints
- Strains and Sprains
- Tendonitis and Tendonosis
- Tennis and Golfers Elbow
- TMJ Disorders
- Whiplash

Registered Massage Therapy
Rebecca, Leah, Brad, Lorraine, Kelsy, Ellena and Tessa.
Massage therapy involves the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. It can help prevent and alleviate discomforts associated with everyday and occupational stresses, as well as muscular overuse and many chronic pain conditions. Everyone from athletes to executives and people of all ages can benefit.
Massage helps restore normal functioning of the body by improving circulation and flexibility while decreasing musculo-skeletal tension and pain. In stress related conditions, it can relieve tension headaches and reduce the physical effects of occupational stress and fatigue. It has an overall tonic effect on the body and promotes a general feeling of well-being, aiding in relaxation. Styles used include: Swedish massage, myofascial release, systemic deep tissue, trigger point therapy, joint mobilizations, visceral manipulation, muscle energy technique and stretching.
Therapeutic massage is recommended for the relief of:
- Arthritis, tendonitis and sciatica
- Back and neck pain
- Chronic stress and tension

Registered Acupuncturist
Dani Foster
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting solid fine needles into specific body points to improve, restore and maintain health and well-being. By stimulating acupoints in order to free up the flow of Blood and Qi, Acupuncture restores normal function and can treat physical and emotional imbalance.
Dani emphasizes preventative medicine and encourages her patients to be actively involved in their health and the healing process. She uses tools such as body acupuncture, auricular (ear) acupuncture and seeds, cupping, Tui Na (Chinese massage), diet recommendations, and physical and mental exercise recommendations to aid in improving her patients' health.
Acupuncture is known to be able to improve people's health and wellness already for thousands of years. It can not only relieve pain, strengthen your health, balance organ systems but also can calm your mind and help to deal with fears, anxiety and stress. That's why you, too, especially due to your challenging profession as an RCMP Officer could tremendously benefit from regular Acupuncture treatments! Read more here.
Dani is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. To book an appointment or for more information on Acupuncture please contact reception.

Low Intensity Laser Therapy
Sciatica? Tendonitis? Arthitis?
Laser Therapy uses red and infrared light for the relief of pain, to accelerate healing and decrease inflammation. When the light source is placed against the skin, the photons penetrate several centimetres and get absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy producing part of a cell. This energy fuels many positive physiological responses resulting in the restoration of normal cell morphology and function.
Laser Therapy has been successfully used to treat a broad range of medical conditions, including musculoskeletal problems, arthritis, sports injuries and post-surgical wounds and scars.
Unlike many pharmacological treatments that mask pain or only address the symptoms of disease, Laser Therapy treats the underlying condition or pathology to promote healing. This means that the treatments are effective and the benefits of Laser Therapy are long lasting.
*Laser Therapy is performed by our Chiropractors Dr Flatt and Dr Kusch and is therefore covered by Blue Cross under Chiropractic coverage.
Please call reception for more information or to book in for an appointment.
