Riverside Cemetery is pleased to be a featured site for this tour and to highlight the achievements of two important landscape architects. Calvert Vaux, who designed our original landscape in 1887, partnered with Frederick Law Olmsted to design Central Park in NYC. Ray Wyrick, who designed our North Gate and some sections of the Main Gate, was a prominent mid-twentieth century cemetery designer.

Thanks to the Sponsors of this event---

Pathways to History, our school curriculum, was developed with the support of a grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Historic Preservation Division in 2009. Pictured here are teacher Laura Bell with some of the 200 fifth-grade students from Alexander II who spent a recent April morning learning history and funerary symbolism in the cemetery.
The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., awarded a grant to Historic Riverside Cemetery Conservancy in 2012 to help fund for Riverside Cemetery the production of a master plan, which will be completed this fall.
Their support - and yours - makes it possible for us to preserve, enhance and share the beauty and history of Riverside Cemetery for the benefit of future generations!
