Thanks to Troop 170 for Great Service!
Creek Clean Up Scouts and their leaders from Boy Scout Troop 170 were given an historic tour and then spent the morning on Saturday, March 9 cleaning up Riverside Cemetery's segment of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail
in anticipation of our April ribbon cutting ceremony (TBA).
The area which required de-littering was the creek bed of Vineville Branch, where recent rains had brought in debris from the city's storm drains and I-75.
We are very grateful to the hard work the Boy Scout troop put in! They found some curious objects- a Sears and Roebuck washing machine lid, a car tire, a GPS, a cell phone, a car muffler, a Walmart gift card, and a baker's rolling pin. View the album on the Historic Riverside Cemetery Conservancy Facebook Photos page. Also, check out Boy Scouts Troop 170's website for more information about the work they do in the community. Even though the Trail hasn't been officially opened, construction has been completed so feel freet o visit and walk the trail and boardwalk.
